Ryan has had a few rough weeks. He had double ear infections and a cold so the doctor put him on amoxicillin 10 days later, on Valentines day of all things he woke up with a head to toe rash - come to find out he is allergic to amoxicillin. Once he was taken off the medication he started having high fevers and a horrible cough - he was diagnosed with pneumonia. I should have known it was bad when he wouldn't eat ANYTHING, which lasted about 3 days. A week later we are back to normal and Ryan is eating like normal! It is great to have my happy, active boy back.

This is an old picture from Christmas that I didn't post. Ted and Ryan sharing a milkshake waiting to see Santa. Notice there is no picture of Ryan and Santa because that was rather traumatic.

My mom and her friend Co from Chicago came out for a few days to stay with Ryan while I was a slave at work and Ted was busy getting the restaurant open. Co has a great camera and took some great pictures. These are just a few.

I know.......it has been way to long! What will 2010 bring - I am hoping 2010 will bring big things for our family! Ted restaurant, The Catch, is opening the first week of February. I think I am as excited as he is. Ryan is now 18 months old weighing at 30.8 lbs and 34.5 inches long. Yes still at the top of the charts. He is still very active and finding new ways to open things, new furniture to climb on and new ways to get his way. And for me... a few things goals for 2010: figure out the wedding, watch the Vikings go to the Superbowl, not work too hard, update the blog every other weeks, and to be prego by the end of the year (the pregnant part that is my plan not sure it is Teds).
Pictures are from x-mass where we spent the day as a family in CA. It was a beautiful day, breakfast with Grandpa Ted who came bearing lots of gifts for Ryan, some time at the park, and a big Ribeye for dinner. The next day Ryan and I flew to AZ for a couple of days to see his grandparents and great-grandparents. That was the last flight with Ryan as a lap child so not sure the next trip to AZ will be. Belated merry christmas and happy new year!

Ryan didn't know what to think of the pumpkin patch at first but as soon as he found the tracker he was a happy boy. He doesn't stop, always moving or should I say running. I can't believe how much he has changed. He has a little temper on him, definitely started the tantrums early. He is talking a lot but nothing I can understand. He says Dad, up, hot, and ball. All words he says very quite but he likes to yell dad.

Ryan turned 14 months yesturday and it came and went and I totally forgot. You may think whats the big deal well....ever month up until his 1st birthday on the 1st of each month I reflected back to the big day that Ryan came into the world. I would talk to him about how old he was and the great things he will do in the upcoming months. My baby is gone and now I have a toddler and we won't celebrate by months only years. Where does the time go.

Football season starts this Saturday and all of you know that is a very important time in our house. Fight On!!!

Big Boy Haircut

So the second hair came six weeks after his first. I decided even though I love the curls, Ryan needed short hair. It is just too hot outside. Don't worry the curls aren't going anywhere....
Another update - Ryan has started walking...so cute to watch him try and get his balance and then fall down. He is getting better every day.

One year check up

All is good with Ryan, he had his one year shots and check up on Tuesday. He has proven himself again that he is a BIG boy...27 pounds, 31.5 inches. Top of the charts for everything, at least he is proportionate. Weight, Length, Head all at 90%!!!! He has taken a few steps but always goes right back to crawling. I am putting bets that it will be another month but we'll see. Again - I am in no hurry, he will walk/run the rest of his life.

I don't have any new pictures so here are a couple from when my parents were out before his birthday...sorry I will get some soon.

Ryan's First Birthday...as you know we decided not to do a birthday party but to spend the day as a family. Ted being Ted, he knows everyone and has a connections for everything. So we decided to spend Ryan's first birthday taking him to his first Dodger game. Ted's friends David works for the Dodgers and got us great seats in the shade of the Club Level as well as a birthday greeting on the Dodger's message board. Ryan experienced LA traffic, his first game, first Dodger Dog, and ended the day covered in cake. Although I was ok with it Ted wouldn't let Ryan participate in the "Wave". Ted and I had a great dinner to celebrate one year with a bottle of 2001 Lancaster Nichole Cabernet.. Great Day!! Oh by the way, the Dodger's won one to nothing.

I bought a banner even though there wasn't a party.....

I made him wear a silly hat and bib in this morning after breakfast.

It took us a while to get to the game but Ryan did great. He was probably excited that he can see what is going on with his seat facing forward.

OH---that was a long day!

He loved his birthday cake. I made a healthy one but it didn't look very good so we went with a store bought cupcake. I promised him I would make him a cake next year that wasn't healthy but a good old fashion birthday cake.

Last weekend Ryan and I headed to the beach for my friend Jennifer's niece, an 11 year old birthday party. He woke up with buckets of snot pouring out his nose and I knew it was going to be a bad day. He did ok considering but I can't wait to take him again when he is 100%.

Allison's last day was Friday. She and her husband are moving to Vegas so he can become a cop. Good luck Scott. Allison started when Ryan was 4 months old and he absolutely adores her! She is the reason I have so many great pictures of Ryan, she captures all the moments we miss during the day. I know Ryan will miss her as will I. New nanny starts on the 22nd.He loves to put his arm straight up in the air and say ohhhhhhhhNew crawl for when he is outside.

One month to go until his First Birthday...I really can't believe it. His personality has really come out these last few weeks. He gests mad when we tell him no and take something away from him, he babbles all the time and shows pure joy over the little things.

We have decided not to have a birthday party, I hope I don't regret it. I really don't have the desire to plan a party right now which is so not like me. We are going to spend the day as a family, probably take him to Gymboree and have a homemade birthday cake. We will save the big parties for when he gets older.

I enrolled Ryan in Gymboree this month. I should have done it a long time ago but I was cheap. I figured since we have our nanny, Allison until the middle of June I should take advantage of it. It will take me awhile to have the comfort level to let our new nanny drive Ryan around. He likes it - I think. He does really good for about 30 minutes but the last 15 minutes he doesn't care for it much. I am taking him to the 10-16 month class so maybe he is a bit young. He isn't ever around other kids and there are a lot of kids and very stimulating.

Ryan got his first 1st birthday present from his friend Sydnie Park. Ryan is slowly getting the hang of it. When he is not walking behind it he is playing will all the stuff on it.
Thank You Sydnie, we can't wait to meet your little brother or sister.......

Ryan will be one year old very soon and I am not sure what happen to the past year. These are some great pictures. Ryan isn't standing on his own yet but he will lean on furniture without a problem. Well --- Ryan is now 10 1/2 months!! I really can't believe it. He is crawling and cruising along and is really good at it. He is cutting his 7th tooth which seems like a lot since he didn't get his first one until 6 months.

Ryan Update

I took Ryan to the doctor today because I am a hypochondriac mother. He has a cold but nothing serious. It made me feel like I am at the doctors a lot when the nurse says she knows me because I am in a lot. Anyway Ryan weighs 23.5 pounds...YES....23.5 pounds. I was thinking he was looking thinner...guess not! He now has 6 teeth, is actively crawling and standing. He also started waving the other day which is the cutest thing and makes me crack up every time he does it. Sometimes he forgets he is standing and lets go but no walking.Ryan getting into Grandmas kitchen drawers. He is always into everything that he knows isn't his.

Gabi's 2nd Birthday

Sunday was Gabi Moreno's (our God Daughter) 2nd birthday so we headed up to LA to celebrate. Ryan started the day with a 30 minute nap which meant the entire day was shot. I had hopped he would be happy once we got to LA but I was wrong. I think he cried the entire time we were there, well maybe not the entire time but that is what it felt like. Either way it was good to see the family and be with Gabi on her birthday.Sad Boy - we were trying to entertain him with the flowers. That lasted about a minute.

I picked a good day to get a picture with him.

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day. Ryan and I went to my friend Amy's for a play date. Not sure any of the kids were interested in playing. It proves I need to get Ryan around kids more.

Tyler (middle - 2 1/2), William (left - 7 months) and Ryan. They both are very interested in Tyler is saying.William and Ryan are the same size but Ryan has a few more rolls!!

The drooling has started again, I think the next set of teeth are on their way.

9 Month Check Up

Friday was Ryan's 9 month check up. He weighs 22.5 pounds (80th percentile) and is 2 feet 5 inches tall (75th percentile). He is a healthy boy with a very good appetite.Ryan's ready for baseball opening day. Thank you G-Grandpa for my new cool fishing shirt!!!

Only wants to stand

Since Ryan figured out how to pull himself up all he wants to do is stand up. We have propped up his play mat in front of the coffee table to try and avoid him eating the table and hitting his head. I really don't want him to start walking yet. It is so cute to watch him scoot around on his hands and knees.
We have started giving him finger foods and he is getting really good at picking things up. His favorite is Gerber Puffs but as long as the puffs are not in site he will eat most everything I put in front of him. Tomorrow is Ryan's 9 month birthday.

First Overnight Trip

This is the longest I have gone without posting. I apologize it has been a few weeks. Work was absolutely insane. I worked 19 days in a row and the last 7 days were LONG days!! My mom came in town to help out, I couldn't have done it without her. I didn't have to worry about what time I left or got home. Now I am off until April 27th and I am so excited to hang out with my little guy. Ted and I had been planing on going away for a couple of days since my mom was in town but he wouldn't let me in on where we were headed. Ted surprised me with a trip to San Francisco. That wasn't the last of the surprises. Our friends Chad, Megan (who live in SF), Kelly and Lloyd were there and trip to Napa Valley in a strech limo was planned for Saturday. It was a wonderful weekend. It was so great to get away, Ted and I needed it but Sunday morning I was missing Ryan something terrible. It was great to get home and see his smiling face.

In one week Ryan went from barley crawling to scooting all over the place and now is pulling himself up. I went this morning to get him and he was standing up holding on - it was the cutest thing.

Ryan's Baptism - February 21, 2009

I think this has been the longest I have gone with a post and I have a ton of new pictures.

Ryan received The Holy Sacrament of Baptism on Saturday, February 21st. It was a wonderful celebration with family and friends. It was great to have my family from Arizona there. We had about 50 people at the ceremony followed by a reception at Theresa Teran's house. Richard and Frances are Ryan's godparents and Monsignor Sheahan, a long time family friend and priest did the ceremony. Ryan was such a good boy he did fanatic, we couldn't have asked for more. He was happy, talking and smiling the entire time.

Thank you to everyone who attended this special day. It means so much to Ted and I that all of you were there and shared in the event.

After church it was only fitting to have Ryan change into a more comfortable outfit!!

On the move

Ryan decided today was the day that he was going to give in and crawl. Up until now he has been doing the elbow crawl. This morning I looked down and he was crawling straight towards the TV remote as if he had been crawling for months. Being the planner that I am you would think that I would have the house baby proofed but I haven't even started. I guess I need to go get some plug things and a couple of gates.

Not much new in our house. Ryan is still trying to crawl, he is getting his four tooth, and is babbling all the time. Those who say it just gets better and better I now believe you. He is so much fun and I never realized that I could be so attached to this little person. He is such a blessing.

Ryan and I went to Sydnie's 1st birthday party this weekend, it was unbelievable. Sophia did a wonderful job. They had everything you could think of for birthday party she even had a butterfly release. I was trying to think of what Ted and I would want if we had a big party for Ryan's first birthday. Our dream party would be to have the USC band and the In and Out Truck but I am sure it will be more like cake and ice cream for the kids and alcohol for the adults.

Superbowl

Ryan turned 7 months the same day as the Superbowl. My mom sent us all shirts but since Ryan's was a little to big I decided to make him one. If the Cardinals make the Superbowl in 2015 Ryan will have a shirt to wear. I am not sure where the creative thought came from but it worked. Although the outcome wasn't what we wanted it was a great time.

We also took Ryan to the doctor on Friday and he has finally slowed down in gaining weight only a few ounces but grew almost an inch in 3 weeks!!!

Crawling - Not Yet

Ryan is trying so hard these days to crawl and gets so frustrated. He gets on all fours rocks back and fourth and lets a big scream falling to his stomach. I think I am ready for him to be ALL over the place.

Lazy Weekend

We had a lazy weekend, it didn't help that Ryan is getting his 3rd tooth (the top one) so he was more cranky then normal. I can't say I blame him it has to hurt like hell. It rained all day on Saturday so not much we could do but Sunday we got out for a trip to the park and church. Yes, I have gone back to church. We are having Ryan baptized on February 21st in San Diego. The priest doing to baptism baptized Ted so it will be very special.

Cool Guy

Ryan really likes his sunglasses. He doesn't even touch the glasses. He has always been a little sensitive to light, it is those beautiful blue eyes. Ryan is definitely going through a stranger anxiety stage. It isn't that he wants me but he is seems scared of new faces. I had a long week at work this week so Ted brought him in and all he did was start to cry at all the new people and stare at them. It just tells me I need to take him around people more.

He is checking out his new vans from his Auntie Kelly! I think he likes them.

Congratulations to my cousin Brian and his wife Kassandra who had a beautiful baby girl on January 7th. Lily Weleck, 7 pounds 4 ounces and 19.5 inches.

Ryan is 6 months old today. I really can't believe it and it is really amazing what happens in 6 months. He has 2 teeth, can sit up on his own for short periods of time, up on all fours rocking back and forth, blabbing all the time, and eating all the new kinds of foods I give him.

Ryan is destined to be brainwashed with our love of football and the teams we follow. Some of you may not know that I am a Minnesota Vikings fan. It is a big week for football in our house. Today is the Rose Bowl with USC and Penn State. FIGHT ON!! Saturday the Arizona Cardinals are in the play offs for the first in who knows how long and Sunday the Vikings play. Skol Vikings Skol!!!

Arizona Christmas

We spent Christmas in Arizona. It was a quick trip and went by way to fast. We arrived on Tuesday and of course my mom had the table set for a big dinner. We got to meet my sister new boyfriend, Andrew. He is really nice and seems patient enough for Kelly. Wednesday the boys played golf which was probably better then having them in the house. My friend Amy came over to visit Ryan, I couldn't believe she didn't bring over all her gifts for me to wrap. My mom and sister and I went to church which was packed. In years past we always avoided the children's mass, guess that has changed. Ryan did very good, the man behind us was making funny faces at him so Ryan was entertained. Christmas morning we got up and headed to my parents house for breakfast and presents. Funny how we said no presents except for Ryan and we all had plenty of gifts to open. Later the rest of the family and friends arrived and we enjoyed a fabulous meal. It amazes me that It is no big deal for my mom to have 20 people for dinner. I usually come in earlier to help but luckily my friend Racquel arrived earlier in the week and helped her. Thanks Rock!!! Friday was a day of relaxation until we arrived at the airport and found out our plane was 5 hours delayed. Ted called and got us on a flight into San Diego and thankfully Ted Sr. was available and able to borrow a car seat and drive us home.

Ryan did better then I thought he would on the plane, slept both ways. He also did better then I thought with the new surroundings. The one thing he didn't do good with was sleeping at night. He just couldn't get used to the pack and play so therefore he was up multiple times during the night. Next time he will have to stay at his grandmas house where there is a crib.

Ryan got so many gifts, a ton of new clothes and toys. My grandfather passed down his silver that he used to eat with which was very special. Thank you to everyone for making Ryan's first Christmas very special.

Teran Tamale Day

I have Christmas picture to post but I didn't post the picture I have from the Teran Tamale Day. It is annual event that happens the week of Christmas. It is a great time for everyone to get together for the holidays and keep the tradition alive. When I say tamale making I mean it - I think this year 700 tamales were made. It was my 3rd year but most people there have been doing it for years.

Ryan 1st tooth cut but hasn't popped yet (I am not sure how long that takes but it is taking its time) so he was kind of cranky, plus he is going through this stranger phase where he cries at people he doesn't know. It took him about an hour to get used to the new surroundings. I promise he is a very happy boy when he is at home. I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted but here are the few I have.

Ryan will hate me someday for these pictures. There was a time that Ryan hated his baths. He would sit for a second and then just start screaming and screaming and screaming. It would take 30 minutes to console him after we got him out. Then one day he started splashing and now doesn't want to get out. It is time to put him in the big bath tub. My friend Sophia let me use her bath seat that can be used in the bath tub. This is just easier until he can sit on his own.

Ted and I took Ryan to a GI Specialist in LA this week. Since he was born he has had reflex and gas issues. The outcome was Ryan is fine just a gassy baby but according to Ted's family it was passed on. The one thing I came out of the visit was I had been overfeeding Ryan. The doctor walked in and first thing he said was, "Wow what a chunk". He proceeded to tell me I was overfeeding him. I told him how much I was feeding him and he realized it was the correct amount. He then said, "you must have been overfeeding him before". As a GI specialist he maybe should have said that overeating is a symptom of reflux becasue it helps with the burn. It didn't stop there, he continued through the appointment to say how big and chunky he was. The best was when he said that I should be the one to tell my baby when his is full not the other way around but that was probably easy for him to say because he wasn't a parent. Wow what was my first clue. I looked up his weight/height percentiles and he is in the 80-90% - So there Dr. Kim!!!! It is amazing how it effects me when people comment on Ryan's size. I grew up with a weight complex and now it seems that the sames feelings are coming back.

I think he is perfect ---- I love his rolls and chins and I know that as soon as the bugger starts moving he will slim down. I will now get off my soap box..

Ryan turned 5 months today and my friend Amy had her baby today. Bailey Blum weighed in at 8 pounds 7 ounces. I can't wait to meet Ryan's future girlfriend :). Congratulations Amy, Steve and Tyler.

We had an very nice time in Palm Desert before Thanksgiving. Being away for 5 days with a infant is a bit long but it was worth it because my parents were able to come over from AZ for a couple of days. It was great for Ryan to spend time with them. He is coming to the stage where he doesn't like new people. That is way I was shocked when he smiled whiled taking a picture with Santa. I was for sure that he was going to scream or at least give his famous lip.

Thanksgiving we traveled to LA to spend with part of Ted's family. It was a great day with family and lots of great food.

It is crazy how fast time goes, Ryan is going to be 5 months in a week. It is hard to imagine a few months ago when he wasn't able to hold his head up, grab at toys, or laugh. Next thing you know he will be crawling, siting up and getting in to everything.

Back to Work

Last week I officially went back to work. Allison is taking care of Ryan while I am at work and she is great. Ryan has really taken to her. It is hard leaving him but I know he is in good hands. We have been trying to get him started on solids because all he wants to do is eat. I tried squash first but he had problem digesting the food so we are back to oatmeal and rice cereal.Ryan is not to sure of his highchair but he loved the squash.

He is getting so good and grabbing things. He likes to have control of his bottle. Ted created a new play area for Ryan which meant we had to sacrifice our dining room table. I guess we are done having people over for dinner unless they don't mind eating on TV trays.
Our tummy sleeper will fall asleep on his side, roll to his back and then cry about 45 minutes later to be put on his tummy.

I didn't buy Ryan a Halloween outfit since he is only 4 months old I figured it was no big deal. On Friday I did regret not getting a costume, ends up he slept through the whole thing. A girl at work take advantage of the times you can dress him in what you want because as soon as he has a voice he will have an opinion. I did buy him pumpkin pj's. Maybe next year!!

Ryan is getting so strong, he thinks he can stand and sit up until he falls :). He loves his tummy time and has the occasional roll over. He has started to grab at things when he isn't chewing on his hands or anything else you put in front of him. Each day there is something new that makes us laugh.

I only have two weeks left at home before I return to work. I can't belive my time at home is coming to an end. It seems like I have been away from work for so long but time has flown by. I am not sure I could be a stay at home mom but a few more months would be great. It seems like he is doing something new everyday. I am not sure if was the power of the Nike outfit but during tummy time today Ryan figured out how to get from his tummy to his back. We finally decided to get it on tape after the third time which explains why he wasn't too happy after. Ryan got his first head cold this weekend. Not sure if it was from being outside at the USC/ASU tailgate or Ted being sick the week before, probably a little of both. We were calling him drool boy because of the constant drool now he is snot boy.

Saturday USC played at home against Oregon (yes they won) so we packed up and headed to LA on Friday. We enjoyed an evening with Richard, Frances and the kids.

Saturday was Gameday. Ryan and I headed to the tailgate for a few hours but of course shortly after we got there he wanted to sleep. The problem with him being a tummy sleeper is that it is the only way he will sleep. So we made a bed for him on the ground. I felt like such a bad mom but he was happy and getting his much needed nap. Next time we will bring the pack and play.

Fun in Arizona

Ryan and I travelled to Arizona last week. He experienced his first plane flight. I think I was more nervous then he was. Of course both flights were jam packed. He did great!!
After arriving in Arizona Ryan got to meet his Great Grandparents, Jean and Charles Weleck.

Some of my great childhood memories are with my Grandparents. I was so wonderful to see them with my son, it brought tears to my eyes.

Thursday was a Ryan meet and greet cocktail party. If anyone knows my parents friends they are a great group of people and any reason is a good reason for a cocktail party. I think the number one comment was WOW he is big!!! Everyone thought he was adorable and said he looks like me (I think he looks like Ted).

On Friday my Uncle Steve came over for a visit. He couldn't put Ryan down. My cousin Brian and his wife Kassandra are expecting a girl in January. I am so excited for Steve and Marilyn, they are going to be great grandparents. Our small family is slowly growing.

We travelled to Pinetop, Arizona where my parents have a house in the mountains. They remodelled a couple of years a ago and I haven't had a chance to get up there. It was a beautiful. I only wished I lived closer so I could enjoy it. The Reynolds family from Albuquerque joined us in Pinetop for a family reunion. Ryan got to meet his Great Grandpa Jack, Great Aunt Mary, Scott, Alicia, Lee and Harriett. It was great to see everyone. We very rarely get all together. We missed Michelle and her family.

Ryan did good in the car (3.5 hours) with one stop and feed he only had 2 meltdowns. He has a new pissed off cry and he definitly was telling us he was pissed to be back in his seat. The weekend was full of relazing, family, food and drinking!!! Saturday night my mom, Harriett and myself stayed up until 2am (Kelly, the youngest crashed early). All I kept thinking was Ryan is going to wake up soon and I have to get up with him. It is crazy how your thought process changes. Luckily my mom offered to do the feeding, bad for her that he work up right after we went to bed.

The Reynolds family left on Sunday and the five of us enjoyed a day of laziness. Monday was a ride back to Phoenix which again Ryan did excellent. Monday night we took Ryan to my sisters restaurant where she works. He was so entertained by the four TVs that were showing Monday Night Football. I think we have a sports fan :). We had a great time but missed Ted and our house.

I have been slacking on posting pictures. Last week Ryan went to his first tailgate party, USC vs. Ohio State. If anyone doesn't know the out come USC won big. Ryan did good but it will be a lot more fun for me when he gets a little older. I didn't get a picture of the tailgate which is hard to believe with all the pictures I take and all of them of Ryan doing the same thing.

This weekend USC didn't play so Saturday we enjoyed an afternoon at Kelly and Lloyd Tiffany house. They have two kids Morgan age 3 and Brian age 4. Ryan had is first experience with the pool, he seemed to like it which means he didn't cry. I think he could be the next Micheal Phelps - probably not but you never know. He would be 20 for the 2028 Olympics.

I really never thought I would be one to go crazy over pictures of my kids. I got a coupon in the mail for a free portrait at Sears so I decided try it out. The free portrait thing is a way to get you in and buy more and more and more pictures of your kid. Ted is going to kill me when he sees all the pictures we are getting in a few weeks. Gabi and Sophia are 3 months apart and I can already tell they will be putting Ryan in his place as soon as they can. 2 month check up

We took Ryan for his 2 month check up (he was 2 months old on Labor Day). He weighed in at 13.5 pounds and 24.5 inches. His height is in the 95th percentile and weight is in 90th percentile but weight to height is 75%. All being said we have a healthy growing boy. After two months of painful feedings and poop issues, he has been diagnosed with GERD (acid reflex). All along I thought it was gas but all the symptoms lead towards reflex. It is painful for him during and after feedings, sometimes worse then others. Unfortunately there is not much you can do for it and he will eventually grow out of it.

Ryan's new favorite is his bouncy chair which I call his baby recliner. I wish I had a vibrating chair :). He will sit for an hour looking around. Not that you can tell from this pictures but Ryan is starting to smile (every so often) but I haven't been camera ready.

Labor Day weekend was the first weekend of Collage football. That means that our Saturdays will revolve around USC football. This week USC won 52-7 against Virgina. It was more like a practice. We spent our first night away from home since Ryan was born at Frances and Richard's house. We had a great time and Ryan was on his best behavior.

It has been awhile since I have posted so this is a long one with lots of pictures.
Ryan is a big fan of the outdoors. If he is crying, upset, fussy, anything but happy you take him outside and he is immediately quite. Lets just say we spend a lot of time walking around our complex.
We took a trip up to LA to see Richard's and Joey's family (visiting from the desert), unfortunately Joey's family got sick and had to go home early. Ryan can't wait to meet the rest of the cousins....

Today is Ryan's five week mark. I have been trying to get into work to show him to the girls at the St. Regis. Today after feeding time Ryan seemed in a good mood so we were off to the races. I felt like I had a stop watch counting my time down till he had an outburst. Trying to get me ready (sort of), him ready and to the Regis before he fell asleep was the goal. Well it worked, he was a such a good boy during our visit. He met all the girls except Sheri, we will have to come back when she isn't in a meeting. Ryan was wide awake and loved being held by all the pretty ladies. He was so good I wasn't sure he was my child. Well once we got home all things changed. He wasn't happy with anything, he wouldn't let me put him down for more then 5 minutes without going in hysterics.

He loves being held and doesn't like alone time, I think I am in for it. This time I couldn't figure it out - I had feed him an hour and half before, he was changed, and I need to put him down to pump. So after 20 minutes I gave in and fed him again (what happened to my schedule??). That was it - he was hungry. This seems to be our number one problem for his outbursts. I am afraid I am feeding him too much but he is clearly hungry because when his is full he is a VERY happy boy. My concern might explain his weight gain he is up to 11 pounds 6 ounces. He has gained almost 3 pounds and has grown over 2 inches in 5 weeks. I guess this is like the sleeping on the stomach thing, you do what makes them happy. Everyone wants a happy baby!!!

Growing Fast

**The pacifier is not my idea - he only uses it when Grandma is around**

Grandma O.J. (we are going to call her Grandma O) was here this week. I felt like I was on vacation. She cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and best of all got up in the middle of the night. The best thing about having to supplement formula for a couple feedings is that someone else can feed him the middle of the night. He is only getting up once between 2 and 3am and then up round 5:30am.

If he keeps up his eating he is going to sleep longer and longer. He downs a 4 oz bottle with no problems. We also discovered putting him on his stomach for his naps helps him sleep.
I know, EVERYONE says you can't put them on their stomachs but if he can lift his head and move it side to side I don't see the problem. Plus all of us slept on our stomachs!!! The other day he was sleeping on his back and rolled to his side. Ryan has officially outgrown a few of his sleepers and onesies. Ryan is already growing out of his clothes. He is wearing 3-6 month sleepers and the 0-3 Gerber onesies are too small. I tried to measure him today and I think he is 23 inches.

Sydnie Park came over to visit. It was Ryan's first play date, to bad he slept through most of it. I didn't get a good picture because Ryan was just waking up but we will next time. Sydnie come back and visit soon.

First Earthquake

4 weeks ago today at 11:42am I was in hard core pushing mode but today while I was cleaning the kitchen floor and Ryan was enjoying his swing we were rattled with a earthquake. I have been in California for about 4 1/2 years and haven't really had much experience with earthquakes. Today's quake was the largest I have felt which is only fitting given that it was Ryan's first experience. Of course he was unfazed enjoying the movement of the swing while the music played and fishes turned above him. After I realized what was going on (mirror shacking, dishes rattling, TV shacking) I immediately grabbed him and stood in the middle of the room not really knowing what to do. I remember someone saying to get under furniture but our kitchen table is glass so I figured that wasn't the safest place so I stood by the door and called Ted express my panic. Ted calm as usual asked if we were OK, kind of chuckled at me, told me to turn on the TV to see where it was and how big and he would call me later. I really need to educate myself on what to do if we are hit with "the big one" everyone says will come one day. Happy 4 week birthday Ryan!!!

Visit with the Teran Family

Sunday was a big day for us. It was our first road trip. We traveled to San Diego to introduce Ryan to the Teran family. The plan was to leave at 9am to get there by 10am. Getting us all out of the house is a little more challaging. I stressed about it for two days, worried I would forget something or that it would be to much for Ryan or for me.
The first time we went to the doctors office I forgot a diaper bag. I made a check list, packed a bag the night before, and tried to time Ryan's feedings so he would sleep in the car. Everything worked out but not because of my plan but because Ryan didn't want to sleep the night before. He slept the entire way down and the entire visit with the family, and all the way home. We had a great time, Ryan got to meet his aunts, uncles, and 8 of his 2nd cousins. Little does he know there are a lot more family members to meet. He will meet the rest of the family at the end of the month at the family reunion.

Grandma and Grandpa Time

Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds are here to visit Ryan for the first time. He melts their hearts as he does everyone he meets. He really likes grandma, he pooped for her 3 times in a row and gave her a little spray during changing time. Grandma hasn't put him down in the last 24 hours. She is already planning on taking him fishing, teaching him how to ski (Ski not snowboard), planning his 21st birthday in Vegas, and teaching him to drive. Grandma told Ryan that Grandpa would buy him a car. I think I will need to get that in writing. I can already tell that G&G R will be spoiling Ryan. I am all for it, I believe that is what grandparents are for. My grandparents spoiled me rotten and I turned out ok.

We are on a three hour feeding/sleep schedule contrary to what Ted wrote about sleeping 8 hours a night. He gained 3 oz in 3 days getting him back to his birth weight. That is a good sign he is getting enough to eat but we are still have issues with breastfeeding so I am going to give it until the end of the month to see if we can work it out.

We are not sure who Ryan look like but there are few features that are definitly mine. He has my long fingers and toes. Those of you who know Ted and I know that he has made fun of my long toes since the day we met. Now Ryan and I can gang up on him.

Well I figured I should write some truth. For those who read the blog and don't know Ted he is a BIG fan of the Dodgers, USC, Godfather movies, Law & Order and good wine. Ted will bring the humor to the blog. Arizona people don't worry I will try my best to get Ryan exposed to AZ teams, not sure I will win but I will try.
I can't believe it has been a week since the big day. First of all labor is hard even with an epidural. Nothing you can explain or imagine unless you have been through it. I have to thank Dayna at Pilates Plus who helped me prepare for the 14 hours of labor. Ted would like to share that the nurses changed the epidural cartridge 3 times, I don't think that is too much. I was afraid to use the drip button they give with fear I would run out, little did I know they don't let you run out. My advice is anyone who is planning on getting drugs you don't need to take the birthing classes. My nurses and midwife were wonderful. I have to say I was very impressed with Kaiser. The other part is no one told me how you feel after the birth and for how long. You mothers out there know what I am talking about. I am not sure if I will ever walk the same again.

Time has flown by and I am not sure what I have been doing except going in circles. Between doctor visits and getting Ryan's blood drawn for Jaundice we haven't been home all day since we have been home. He has been such a champ, it has been much harder on Ted and I then Ryan. The last two times he didn't even wake up, thank god for the car seat! The levels have been going down so we might be able to avoid a doctor until his 2 month visit.

Ryan also is labeled as a lazy sucker (not sure who he gets that from) according to the lactation consultant. Feeding time has been really interesting, I think Ryan is as frustrated as I am.

I am not sure how much I will keep up with posting comments but I will keep the pictures coming.

Week One

Before anyone starts to give me crap about the colors of the blog background, know that I am already working on getting it changed. One thing at a time so be patient.

Anyway, today is Tuesday July 8th and I just finished my first week with Ryan. He is the perfect kid. He sleeps 8 hours a night...usually from 10pm - 6am but that fluctuates a bit and sometimes he sleeps from 11pm until 7am. Either way, it's all good.

During the day he pretty much keeps to himself. I can tell that he's just taking things in, playing it cool, wondering what the fuss is all about. During the day, he sleeps for 3 - 4 hours at a time. When he wakes up, he doesn't cry he just puts his mouth in a drinking position and then we feed him. Afterwards, he burps on his own about 30 seconds after he's done. He nods towards the pack-n-play and then he falls fast asleep for another 3 - 4 hours.

He pee's pretty regularly but only when he's sleeping and never without a diaper. He poops every 12 hours on the nose and again, always in the diaper. The poop has been solid and very easy to clean. Again, him looking out for us.

During the day when he's not sleeping, he is already throwing a baseball across the room. His direction is getting to be pretty good as well. It didn't start out that way but now he can hit the air conditioning control and turn it off and on whenever he wants. I like this because he likes the house cool like me. Erika is not such a big fan but she'll get over it. That's what blankets are for. His favorite Dodger is Russell Martin and he can almost say his first word.....FERNANDO.

In any event, things have gone pretty easily so far. I haven't had any of the problems or experienced any of the headaches or late nights that people were telling me about. I'm almost done with my second bottle of wine tonight and Ryan is putting his mouth in that drinking position again.

My First Week

Finally...I'm here!!!!

I can't even begin to tell all of you how excited I am to be here. I don't even know where to start and what to say first. There are so many things going through my head right now...my great parents, USC football, the Spirit of Troy, my mom's new car, my own 42 inch flatscreen plasma above my crib (bed not house), Dodger baseball, Daddy's wine, drinking from a can (get it Richard), summer in Orange County, I'm a July birthday (barely but of course), did OJ do it, who killed J.R. and "leave the gun...take the canoli".

As most of you know, I was born last Tuesday at 12:12pm. It was getting really cramped in there and I actually popped that water balloon I was in on Monday night. It took me a little while to manuever my way out but I finally did it.

Once out, I spent some quality time with my parents. I thanked them for caring for me for the previous nine months and just when I was starting to relax, the circus showed up. In came one person after another.

First was grandpa Ted and Uncle Paul. Then it was Amy, Amanda, Racquel, Jennifer, Weston, Jessica, Scoot and Allison. Everyone seemed nice and polite but that Weston...there's just something about him that I can't put my finger on. Anyway, ater a while everyone left and Dad and I watched the Dodgers beat the Astros 7 - 6 in a come-from-behind victory. I pooped and pee'd and everyone seemed pretty excited about it for some reason.

The next day, mom and I got a new room in the hospital. It was about half the size as the first room but it was ok...I have no ego. Anyway, it was cool. I still had nice nurses and we watched the Dodgers win again, this time 4 - 1 against the same Astros as the night before. I wrote my name on the whiteboard so that the new patients in the room would know that they were following in the steps of a greatness. I didn't want to stick around to see them though. I didn't want to take away from their special moment. After all, I can relate to the commoners. As I did yesterday, I continued pooping and pee'ing and I can't understand why everyone is so giddy about it.

I finally got to go home on Thursday and boy oh boy was home everything that I thought that it would be. Mom had set up my room exactly as she said she had and my TV was exactly where dad said that he put it...directly above my crib to watch replays of USC games. I have a play area and a swing downstairs (I think I'm going to really like that swing - Thank you Amy and Steve Blum), and a huge bedroom full of toys upstairs.
I stopped pooping today until I can figure out what all of the commotion about it is. We watched the Dodgers beat the Astros 5 - 2...my first sweep and now we go to Frisco. I already hate the Giants.

I also got to meet Uncle Richard, aunt Frances and my cousins Maya and Gabi. I don't know why uncle Richard buttons his shirt all the way up like that. Aunt Frances was funny with her comments about nothing in particular. Maya was awesome and Gabi seemed gassy with all of her grunts while pointing at me.

I met aunt Kelly today too. I can tell that her and I are going to get along really well...or at least her friends and I will.

Friday...the 4th of July. My Aunt Shannon came to visit.

My first 3-day weekend and I'm still not pooping. The Dodgers beat the hated ones 10 - 7 and it kept me up all night. I was so happy to beat them and I could tell that it made everyone else happy also. I cried and pee'd but I did not poop again. Dad was so happy that he drank 2 bottles of his 2004 Insignia (I hear that's good stuff and I can't wait to crack that open with him and a good steak). I celebrated so much after the Dodger win that I slept through the firework show. Happy birthday Aunt Jen Jen and Becky the B.

Saturday...Dodgers lost. Daddy and I drank ourselves to sleep.

Sunday was cool. We beat the Giants 5 - 3 to take 2 out of 3 from those guys and my first weekend was a good one...so good that I decided to poop today. I also got to meet Lloyd, Kelly, Bryan and Morgan. They're all nuts!! I can't wait to see them again.

Monday was more of the same. I slept, pee'd, pooped, sat in the swing and watched the Dodgers win again, this time against los Bravos. Some guy named Kuroda pitched 7 perfect innings and ended up throwing a one hitter in the 3 - 0 victory. If the Dodgers can continue hitting, I like their chances. Dad likes wine and I love to sleep in mom's arms and on dad's chest.
